By creating an account or using the WalkTogether app, you agree to these Terms & Conditions. If you do not agree, do not use the app.
You must be at least 18 years old to create an account, join a challenge, or act as a group manager, given the real-money stakes and payouts involved. By using WalkTogether you confirm you meet this requirement.
A manager creates a group and shares an invite link. Members join by request, subject to the manager’s approval, and pay a recurring monthly stake set by the manager. Steps are counted only during verified, buddy-paired (or sensor-verified indoor) walking sessions during the active monthly cycle. At the monthly cutoff, the member with the highest verified step count receives the winner’s share of that month’s pot, as shown in the app.
WalkTogether challenges are skill- and effort-based competitions: the outcome is determined by verified physical activity, not chance. WalkTogether is not available where local law treats this type of competition as gambling. It is your responsibility to confirm that participation is lawful where you live.
Sessions are checked using motion-sensor activity classification, GPS movement, and speed analysis to detect spoofed, vehicle-assisted, or otherwise fraudulent activity. We may flag, exclude, or reverse any session or payout found to be fraudulent, and may suspend or terminate accounts that violate this section.
WalkTogether encourages physical activity but is not a medical service. Consult a doctor before beginning any new exercise activity, particularly if you have an existing health condition. You use the app’s walking features at your own risk.
The in-app SOS feature shares your live location with your chosen emergency contact when activated. It does not automatically contact emergency services, such as 111 or 911. In a genuine emergency, contact local emergency services directly.
Managers are responsible for approving members, setting group rules within the app’s allowed ranges, and moderating their group’s chat. Managers do not pay any platform fee and earn a commission from each monthly pot as described in the app. WalkTogether reserves the right to review manager-linked sessions, including where a manager competes in their own group, for fairness.
We may suspend or terminate any account that violates these terms, engages in fraud, or creates a safety risk to other users. You may close your account at any time from within the app.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, WalkTogether is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind, and we are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the app, including injuries sustained while walking or running.
These terms are governed by the laws of New Zealand, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, unless local consumer protection law in your country requires otherwise.
We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of the app after a change takes effect constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
